There are 11 (count ‘em!) new Star Wars LEGO sets that are due out by the end of the month. To see them, you can visit the company’s website, or several other retail websites.
So far I’ve seen a set inspired by “SW: A NEW Hope”, “SW: Return of the Jedi”, Clone Trooper/Geonosian based themes, and a few vehicle kits.
I am instantly attracted to the “Endor Rebel Trooper and Imperial Trooper” Battle pack set. It comes with 2 Endor Rebels, a Scout Trooper (Biker Scout, for us old school SW fans), a Stormtrooper, Speeder Bike, and a tree.
The next, and equally alluring set is the “Droid Escape” set. It includes: C-3PO, R2-D2, 2 Sandtroopers (with sand smudges on their armor), an Escape Pod, and a Swoop Speeder Bike.
Awesome, right?!
In addition to standard build-then-play sets, there are 3 minifigure sets that each come with a miniature vehicle and planet. There is the Planet Naboo with Royal Pilot and mini N-1 Starfighter; the Death Star with mini TIE Fighter and Pilot; and Tatooine with Sebulba and his mini Pod Racer. These little planets would easily make for lovely holiday ornaments, if not car or room decorations!
The rest of this series includes re-occuring kits, such as X-Wing, Y-Wing, and TIE Fighters, but with new figures. As for bringing back the old, I’d be ecstatic if LEGO would re-release the old Imperial Landing Craft (as seen on SW: ANH on Tatooine). This was the ship that came with 4 Sandtroopers and a pilot. I wish I had gotten it when I had the chance, but for whatever reason I simply didn’t.
Okay, now you are aware of these new sets. Now get out there and scope ‘em out. Afterall, “These are the sets you are looking for”!

Nice review dude! I’ve been reading about all the new sets, SW included as reported from the London Toy Fair earlier this week and I feel completely overwhelmed by the volume of things coming out. I can’t keep up….can’t afford to keep up….with everything I’d want. LEGO is doing a crazy good job at creating variety and quantity though, I’ll give them that. The next Star Wars advent calendar with a Santa Darth Maul and stuff? Clearly going to have to have that. New battle packs…gotta get ‘em. And what have I regretted missing when they came out the first time? Gamorrean Guards that came with some sets back half a decade ago which I hope will bepart of the new Jabba’s Palace set. ARhgghhggh. And if that wasn’t going to kill my wallet 2 more runs of minifigures later this year, Gandolf and probably several fantasy monsters I MUST have from the LOTR stuff and who knows what else…can’t even remember it all! And I’m honestly worried that Kingdom’s is vanishing for now because I haven’t seen them pop back up and there’s all this other stuff on the market. Might have missed a chance to grab some of the sets from 2011! Argh. Anyway – I’m glad you have laser sharp focus on the SW stuff because I think without strong dedication to a specific theme they’d be easy to miss.
I totally miss the old 1999 to early 2000′s LEGO Star Wars toy run! That was back when the minifigures still sported the yellow heads! I only got a few of the smaller sets, but they were cool. In fact, I think the biggest one I had gotten was the Endor Luke with 2 Scout Troopers and 2 Speeder Bikes. Next in line was the Landspeeder with Luke and Ben; E1 Jar Jar with Qui-Gonn and 2 battle droids with STAP speeder; Ewok Glider and Catapult with 2 ewoks and Scout trooper with speeder bike; and a couple small “playsets” which included Luke and Imp Officer; Vader and Emperor; Darth Maul, Qui-Gon and Sith Speeder Bike; and R2-D2, C-3PO, Bib Fortuna with Jabba Palace Gate. Of course in recent years, I’ve gotten a couple of sets like the battle packs (which are fun ways to boost troop capacity).
I so can’t wait for the LOTR minifigures. I can’t think of not wanting any of it!
As for the Kingdoms sets, I hope it’s just a minor lull, and that LEGO is going to send out some restocks in a month or so. I’ve seen that happen before. I don’t think I will buy the Joust set, but will certainly look to it for inspiration.
With the recent releases of the series 6 minifigures, the upcoming SW sets, and anything else LEGO tosses out during the rest of the year, my wallet is going to feel very light!
